Annabelle’s End Of Term 3 Reflection

1. A reading skill I have learnt is to write words in my Clarifying Journal when I don’t understand a word. Then I can learn what it means by looking it up in the dictionary. Now I read a tiny bit slower to pick up words.
2. I enjoyed doing Writer’s Notebook because I love to write. I am always inspired by something and love to write a story about it in my Writer’s Notebook.
3. Something that is new to me in maths is perimeter and area. I have done it before but have completely forgotten how to do it. Now I know again. Something that has been a success is fractions and decimals. It was really quite easy for me.
4. I liked both the homework projects this term. The first one was a little stressful because it was the first project I have done for quite a while and my poster that I created got ruined so I had to redo the whole thing in one night or else a $500 fine. The second one was good because I got to do it on a PowerPoint and that was a lot easier than a poster.
5. The toy project was ok for me. Originally we were going to have a doll sitting in the car but we ran out of time. I wasn’t here for most of the construction because I was away but Ii still got to make the race set. Next time I would like to help design the toy because I didn’t really get to do much of it.
Something that challenged me in reading was doing my pauses properly and not doing a mono tone when I read to friends. One writing task that I enjoyed was when we had to practice for debate and when we had to write them our topic was hard and so it made it fun for me and challenge. Two things I really enjoyed about numeracy this term was learning to do short division which was really fun and the second one was doing a bit of area because I thought you had to times all the sides but you don’t. This term for homework we had to do an invention poster and you got scored on it you also had to do an inventor project which was fun. What I think we did well on our toy project was finishing it and I think we need to improve how we designed it.
Term 3 reflection
The reading skill that has helped me read is sq3r. It has helped me to comprehend what I’m reading better than usual.
The writing task I enjoyed the most was when we had to write a story about a man that was floating down into a shark infested lake. But at the start of the last lesson that we had to have to write the story we were told that the crocodiles were vegetarians. I enjoyed that lesson because we got to make the story up.
My favourite focus was area but the easiest was perimeter.
I think that my homework was by far the best out of the double grades especially my model.
I think my toy was disappointing because I planned everything well but I didn’t have the materials I needed to build my original plan.
End of term 3 reflections
One of the reading skills I have learnt is to read faster and predict my book.
It changes the way I read because I use to never read and now I can read 4 novels in ½ months
The one writing task I really enjoyed was where I had write an information report about lions.
I liked writing about lions because I like animals
Two things I liked about numeracy is that we are doing perimeter and also area.
Something that is new for me is food-tec
And something that is a success to me is my maths has improved

In class we all made our own toy I had made a pinball machine and it was very successful

Term 3 reflection!!!!!
1: the reading skill that I have learnt that helped me this term was visualizing which helped me understand my text that I read.
2: 1 writing thing that I enjoyed this term was learning about information reports because one day I would like to write an information report as a book when I am older.
3: 2 things I enjoyed doing in maths was area and fractions, decimals and percentages because I wasn’t as confident as I am now at doing these things.
4: the thing that was new to me was learning how to measure the capacity and volume of something as I used to always mix them up but now I don’t. Another thing new was that some information reports don’t have sub headings.
5: The homework project that I did this year was about Philo Farnsworth and the amazing Ute.
6: the project I invented with my partner was good because 1 a lot of people liked it and 2 lots of people had shot of Race Me!
The thing I could improve on next time is to not make it too difficult for myself and stick with something you know you can do and you can do in the time given.
Reflection
The reading skill I have learnt is how to understand the text more and to visualize what I’m reading. its changed my reading buy my confidence because sometimes I have to read to class . my reading has changed a lot I think and the books that I read are great. the writing task the topic I enjoy is doing free writing because I like writing about horses and animals and I also like to right information reports as well because they are fun to right. when you get to choose the topic that is. for maths I liked doing short division and I liked to learn my multiplication tables up to 12. my homework I think my homework projects could look a bit more appealing but I think my homework is alright. My toy project I don’t think it was a great success because I didn’t work well with my partner and I did wish that we got to work by our self’s because sometimes I would get annoyed with my partner because he would do something silly or not do anything or just talk to his friends and only do a little bit of work
On term 3 I have learned so many things and there is no doubt that I haven’t learnt anything new.1 thing from reading I have improved with is my tone. I now use expression when I read and write. I have also gained confidence in reading in front of others. I stammer less when I read and I use my knowledge on what I have already read to predict. I enjoyed doing my writers note book activities. This is because most of our sessions are just rocket writing.my favourite writing activity was the narrative I wrote .it’s because I have had the idea of the story in my head for 4 years and I finally got it down on a page.2 thing from numeracy (new thing) I learned in numeracy was how to do my timetables. After we started doing the times table challenge I have gotten better at multiplying. (A success)Another thing I have learnt is how to calculate the perimeter and area of a shape. This term I did my homework on animation. This topic was randomly chosen but I really enjoy that topic and I’m happy I got it. I worked hard and it is the best I could do. I also did Marcus Presson he is the inventor of minecraft and I did a power point. It was the best PowerPoint I ever made!!! The toy was an amazing bobble head panda. I think it was really good because the head would bobble properly and that was the best. I think I should help some more and me and my partner could work together better.
One reading skill that I learned this term that could change the way I read is clarifying words I don’t know so next time if I come to that word, I know what it means and I know how to pronounce it.
Right now we are working on information reports and I have enjoyed it because, we get to get books and look on websites for information about the topic we are doing and we get to know new exciting facts about things.
This term we are working on area and permitter and we are going to learn more next term as well. We have learned that to figure a permitter of an object you measure the sides and then add them all together. To figure out the area of a shape you measure all the sides as well but, then multiply them.
I have learned how to figure out the permitter and area of an object because, I didn’t know what to add and multiply and what to not. I enjoyed the class project we did. We got to invent and build new things and I had lots of fun.
Things about term three!!!!!!
1: The reading skill what has helped me this year on my reading is visualize. It helped me because when I read the text it is easy to visualize something to create the story better.
2: The writing task that I in joyed this year is Information Report because I like to do a text that tell me about something.
3: The thing I in joyed in maths this year is area and perimeter because I needed to learn more and I like to use rulers.
4: The thing what is new to me at school is how an Information Report is set out and if there are any sub-headings and the Information has to be real.
5: The homework task that I completed is on an invention, what was an electric kettle and on an inventor, what was on Gary John Cosier and he invented the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground).
6: I also invented with a partner a skateboard then we had to make a response on to make someone buy the product and to test the machine to see if it is work arable.

The homework projects I finished was the invention and the inventor project, in the inventions project I had to study on the refrigerator. In the inventors project I chose Leonardo Da Vinci.
Write your own critique on the toy project:
I think I did ok on the toy project. I did a good job on painting. Next time I need to do better on making the wheels move and maybe more features.
One writing task I enjoyed and why: I enjoyed writing in our writers note book because when we write in our writers notebook we write about anything we want.
One thing in maths I enjoyed was and something new was: something I enjoyed in maths was, doing graphs. Something that was new to me was, measuring area of compound shapes.

– one writing task that you really enjoyed and why I have really enjoyed writing information report because I’m good at copying information into my own words and because I’m not good with keeping story’s going for long, in an information report you have the information all you need to do is put it into your own words because all the information is there for you.
– Two things from numeracy. One that is something new for you and one thing that is a success for you this term. The new thing that I have learn is how to figure out the area of a circle and a triangle the other thing that has been a success for me this term is the lattice method.

My toy project turned out very good but my partner did hardly anything and I was always fighting with him about how it was going to get done and he never wanted to do any work on the paper.
Next time I would like to work better with my partner and use my time more wisely.

– One reading skill that I have learnt that has changed the way I read
Is punctuation this has helped me read better and understand the text better. Because I wouldn’t stop on full stops.
Reading primers challenge has helped because I read more books now.
-One writing task that I really enjoyed and why
I enjoyed writing an information report on the country Spain, because I didn’t know much before the information report when I finished it I learnt lots about Spain.
– Two things from numeracy. One that is something new for me and one thing that is a success for me this term.
A new thing for me is the area and perimeter subject I did know it, it was just a recap. I was successful in the four operations- Division, Multiplication, Subtraction and Addition.
Reflection on Homework.
This term my homework was about inventions and inventors my invention was the first Ute in 1934.I completed the full task on a poster. My inventor was Elbert Einstein I choose him because he is famous because of his invention. I completed my one on a Power Point and presented it to the class.

My toy project was good it was a travel board game. Myself and my partner worked well together and we completed the board game. If I could change my project I would add a bag to put the toys/games in it to travel with.

END OF TERM THREE REFLECTION
READING: my new reading strategy I learnt this term is summarising because it helps you to see if you really understand the text because you’re putting it into your own words.
WRITING: my favourite task we did in writing this term was genre wheel where we chose a genre to write and put our name tag on the section that had the genre written on it. I liked it because you could choose how ever and whatever you wanted to write.
MATHS # 1: I liked learning about how to convert fractions into decimals because it was fun and easy to learn, I enjoyed the lesson and even did some at home!
MATHS # 2: I also liked learning perimeter because I needed to learn more about it and now I understand it more.
HOMEWORK PROJECT: I liked doing both projects, for my invention poster I did an electric blanket and I learnt a lot about it, like S.I. Russell was the first to invent it but not the only person who invented it.my second one about inventors I did Arthur Fry who invented the post it note and sticky note, he was a scientist and retired inventor who studied engineering in the university of Minnesota!
a. TOY PROJECT: I liked the name dolly we gave it because it suits the storage doll, I think we should have gotten proper boxes and followed the design, I think next time I might do a tissue teddy because it was hard and it didn’t turn out very good.
READING: One reading skill that has really helped me this term is visualizing because it made me think about the book more and not just looking at the words, but actually thinking what they mean.
WRITING: The writing task that I liked the best was writing the dog narrative because I had a visual picture to help write the story it was a better way of doing it.
MATHS#1: I loved doing the times tables challenge because it helps you with your times tables and has helped me for next year.
MATHS#2: The other thing I loved was doing measurements because I am getting very good at it.
HOMEWORK PROJECTS: My favourite homework project was the inventor’s project because I put a lot of time and work into it.
TOY PROJECT: I think the idea worked well and it was exactly as I planned it. I think the thing I could of done better was the shape and sewing of the toy.
End of term 3 reflection
One reading skill that I have learnt that has changed my reading: I have learnt to read fluently and by that I mean reading the punctuation, read with expression, and to understand the text. I think this was really good advice from Mrs Abbott.
One writing task that I have really enjoyed and why: I really enjoyed information reports and persuasive writing. I enjoyed information reports because it was fun researching on different countries and disasters and my favourite writing piece is information reports. I enjoyed persuasive writing because I think it help me a lot with my debate because they’re both alike and it’s my second favourite writing piece.
2 numeracy things that I have learnt/enjoyed: I enjoyed and learnt short division because it is easier and quicker than short division and it helped me understand division more. I also learnt about indices at first I didn’t know what it was but then when I learnt about it, it was easier and simpler and I thought it was pretty fun.
Reflection on my projects for homework: the first project I did was the bionic ear and I thought it wasn’t my best work and I didn’t have a lot of info either. The next project that I did was on Leonardo da Vinci I thought it went really well and had more info and colour than my other one and was probably one of my best works that I have done.
My toy project: Meg and I made a car and we had a few problems 1 of them was some wrong measurements and the other was couldn’t get our wood cut in time for an interior. But in the end it turned out to be a good car that moves and has opening parts I would give myself and Meg a 14/20.
What is one reading skill that you learnt that has changed the way you read?
One reading skill that I have learnt that changed the way I read is learning how to clarify correctly, it helps when I am struggling with a word.
What is one writing task that you really enjoyed and why?
I enjoyed all the writing tasks on the blog as I don’t enjoy writing out pages by hand, however the computer solve this problem so I can work to my full potential.
Write 2 things from numeracy, something that is new for you and something that is a success for you.
One thing that is new for me is learning what a square metre is, I occasionally struggled with questions involving them. One success for me in maths is getting into Maths Olympiad, it was a great achievement for me.
Reflect on the homework projects this term.
I rushed the inventions project as I had forgotten about it and left it to the last minute, so I forgot about it. I tried to make up for it with my inventors project, which I hope I did. I enjoyed doing the inventors project much more than the invention, as the inventor had made something relevant to me.
Write your own critique on your toy project.
I enjoyed making the toy because I like to build things, but I don’t get to build at home. I think Hannah and I did a great job on our toy, as everyone kept on coming over to play it. I think I could build the necessary parts better, as the hoop to our toy was lopsided.
Caleb’s End of Term Reflection, Term 3
The thing that changed the way I learned when I am reading is to picture it, like make was a movie in your mind. I read every day while most kids go home and do other things I read. The reason why most people don’t read is because they don’t choose the right books and the right styles of books. Ok the writing that I enjoyed most was when we had to write a story then we drew pictures than published it yah. Ok these are the top 2 best things in numeracy.1 was when we did area and perimeter and the 2nd best thing I did was when did math bingo. One thing that was new for me was meeting more mature people rather than playing with year fours who do things I used to do but now that I’m friends with a whole lot more people and friendly people I feel way more better, but I want to tell u something I never been bullied in my life… at least not yet! But with more social people I feel better. One thing I succeeds at is being way friendlier. The homework we did was really hard but I got through almost all the steps of year 5 but I still got one more term to make more friends and help more people that don’t have a life as easy, so basically homework was a bit easy and rally hard but I did it. Ok on the toy project I and Paula made a puppet theatre and I was really cool and fun!!! And we only had two puppets but we did ok. But next time a think I should work a little harder (u think!!). it was fun and thanks to this school I can actually do this thanks!.
1.A reading skill that I have learnt that has helped change the way I read is the “SQ3R” strategy because surveying an questioning myself about the book helped me stay interested in the book. The three R’s have helped me to summarise the book and answer questions in my own words.
2.A writing task that I have enjoyed is free writing because when I free write I am able to come up with more ideas but when I have to be given a topic, I sometimes struggle to think. Another writing task I have enjoyed is the debating draft, where we had to plan our debate. I liked this task because it helped me be more organised and ready for public speaking.
3.Something that is new for me this term was working out equations with indices. Something I have succussed in numeracy is turning fractions into decimals and decimals into fractions.
4.This term our homework topic was inventions and inventors. For the inventions project I did the hair dryer, an interesting thing about the hairdryer is that it used to be a huge bonnet with a vacuum attached to it. For the inventors project I did a slideshow and I added hyper-links so you can access a website with just a “CLICK”.
5.This term we also based our class project on inventions, we had to make our own toys I would give myself a 9 / 10 because I really liked the way it looked, the purpose of it was good and I liked the idea of making flyers too. Next time maybe we should make our advertisement more appealing and convincing.
Reading skill: understanding words without a dictionary read to the end of the sentence and then make a prediction if the sentence is saying it could be 2 words or you have still no idea what the word means more than get a dictionary and also record this in my clarifying book and also helping my reading is reading before school.
Writing task that I really enjoy and way: information reports I think I stayed on information reports for most of the year and I really enjoyed that kind of writing.
Numeracy one thing that was new and one thing that was a success to me this term: permitter was new for me my whole primary school years and I enjoyed converting measurements.
Homework reflection: I did speech homework and all of the time I got 70%+ right on my homework I have always been keeping up with my speech homework and always handed it in on due date.
Toy project what went well and why and what would I change next time: The super skater went well the other idea I had it did not work we needed a jigsaw for it the super skater went well because it was a very simple design because it is easy to make and use when we had to start all over again we needed something simple so we did something small the super skater. What would I do different I would plan it thought sessions and cut some hard wood at home if I need to next time instead of restarting.
End of term reflection
-One reading skill that I have learnt and changes the way that I read is questioning while I read, because now when I read I question during the book, I would question about things that might be happening or about what I think will happen.
-One writing task that I really enjoyed most in writing was when we got to write and information report about anything we know.
-One thing new that I learnt in maths was about the different angles that there are but I still need more work on it, something that was very successful for me was perimeter, I am good at it and wouldn’t mind working on it some more.
-During this term the homework projects that we completed were about an invention and the second project was about an inventor. I liked them both and I think that I did well on it.
-What did you do well in and why?
I did well in working together with my partner because we didn’t argue and we both took part in creating the toy.
-What do you need to do better next time and why?
I need to do better in the effort that was put into making the toy and I need to be organised and bring in things that need.
Reflection
1.A reading skill that I have learnt is visualizing because I used to have trouble understanding a text but this term it has helped me and I now can understand a text by visualizing.
2.One writing task that I really enjoyed was narratives and information reports because I like making up stories and being able to just write what I want and use my imagination in my writing. I also like writing information reports because I get to go on a computer and look up information that I didn’t know about.
3.Something that is new for me in numeracy is perimeter and area, because we are looking at it a lot more than I did in grade 3/4 which is really good for me because I never used to understand it because we never really did in grade ¾ so now I understand it more and I don’t get confused. Something that is a success for me is division and my times-tables because I understand it a lot better and can work out some division sums now that I have learnt a lot more of it. My timetables are also a success because I now can answer a times-table question on the spot because I started practicing them a lot more on mathletics and our Monday timetables.
4.My toy project went okay the only thing me and my partner did well was agreeing on what we were going to do. We need to improve on communications because we didn’t work together very well. But in the end we got it finished and were happy that we got a project done.
One skill that I learnt that changed the way I read was the QAR which stands for Question, Answer and Relationship. It helped me get a deeper understanding a book or a text.
One writing task I enjoyed was when I put my name on the genre wheel and in section narrative. It was fun because I could use my best ideas which was about to cloud my mind full of ideas.
I learnt the lattice method which includes addiction and multiplication in a simple way
One thing that was new for me was earn and learn in my old school I didn’t have earn and learn I am very lucky to be in this school and amazing and fabulous teachers.
One thing that was a success in this term was my teams tower that could hold great mass or weight it was a great success I worked as a team and it succeeded I could not believe it I thought it was going to fall down but instead my team’s tower held the ball
My homework project this term was a complete success I handed every single project.
My toy was a success. But I and my partner almost completed the project which was a very good effort. What we need to do better next time is the wheels we didn’t get a wheels.
My reflection on term 3
Reading and finding he places where the punctuation is supposed to go and filling it in, by doing that it has helped me with putting in my punctuation when I am writing.
I liked the writing task when you write an information report on a topic of choice, I liked this activity because it gives me a choice of a topic I am confident with to write about.
In numeracy I learnt How to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals, I have succeeded in getting better in my multiplication during this term.
I like how I had to do less researching with my helicopter project because my dad knew a little bit about helicopters and so did I.
I also liked it how I got the inventor that I did on my helicopter project that I had earlier on in the term so I didn’t have to research much then.
On our toy project I think we did well in changing our toy so it wouldn’t stuff up when we presented it.
I think we need to manage our time better so we can get more complete during seasons and so we can find the problems earlier, so we have more time to fix them up.
I enjoyed the homework projects we had done this term. First we made a poster on an invention we chose and then I did a booklet on an inventor I chose which was Thomas Edison. It was really hard but at the end it looked fabulous, so I am proud about what I did.
On the class project we did was really fun and we got everything finished in time. Next we need to do a little more teamwork because if worked together more better our project might of looked much more better.
For my poster I would give myself 7/10 because, I didn’t use all my space properly. Also because I didn’t include a bibliography.
For my power point I would give myself 9/10 because not all of it was in my own words.
For my toy project I would give myself a 8/10 because I didn’t use my time effectictivly and it was rushed.

One reading skill that I have learnt that has changed the way I read
One reading skill that I have learnt is questioning my reading.This has changed my reading because I now can understand some books that I didn’t really understand before.When I question my reading it makes sure I know what I have just read and makes sure I understand what happened in the book.This is probably the only thing I have learnt this term in reading that I use nearly every day.
One writing task that you really enjoyed and why?
One writing task that I really enjoyed this term was getting to write information report on an imaginary animal.I really enjoyed this task because I was able to let my imagination run wild and not have to look up all my information.All I had to do was think or imagine what my animal looks,acts and sounds like.I also enjoyed this task because I was able to write lots and lots of information from whatever popped into my mind,I didn’t waste my time looking for info I was able to get working straight away.
One thing that is new and one thing that is a success for me in numeracy is?
One thing I learnt this term in numeracy is what volume and capacity is.Before this term I didn’t know much about these two subjects but this term and now not only know what they are but I now know both their definitions.
Volume: Volume is the amount of space occupied in a solid object or a substance measured in cubic units.Volume can be determined by counting cubes or by using a formula.
Capacity: Capacity is the maximum amount of fluid a container or something can hold.
One success I have had in numeracy this term is turning fractions into decimal.Last year we learnt about but I didn’t really get it so I was a little confused.This term I had this task properly explained to me and I was able to convert the two really easily by the end of one session.
Reflection on my homework projects that I completed
One of the projects in homework this term was the inventions projects.For this project Your name and an Australian invention was picked out an hat and that was your topic.The invention that I got was the digital camera a common used invention.Once we got our topic we had three weeks to bring in a draft and a fully finished poster on our topic.This was more than enough time for me so I was able to bring in my project on the right day completely finished.For this project I was lucky enough to be scored 21/21.I was so happy that day and celebrated when I got home.
Our second homework project was on an inventor of our choice.I picked Philo Farnsworth the inventor of the first television.For this project we had exactly 2 weeks to bring in a draft and have either a poster, PowerPoint, booklet etc. on your inventor.Again I did a poster for this project.I enjoyed making the poster because I made it look like an old fashioned television. We’re all just waiting now to get the final results on our posters.
A critique of my toy project
For the toy project we had to work in a partnership and make a toy.My partner and I decided to make a teddy bear that was half alien half bear.I thought that the sewing and stuffing of the teddybear was really good because it took a long time to do but it was worth it in the end.Something we could improve on next time is working better in a group because I was left to do most of the work while my partner was busy mucking around and talking to friends.
One Reading skill that you have learnt that has changed the way you read:
Doing the three figure test to see if the book you are reading is a just right book. If you don’t know how to pronounce a word then you put one figure down. With one finger left standing, the book is not a just right book. If you have two fingers left standing, the book is alright. If you have all three fingers still standing, then that book is too easy for you and is not your just right book.
One writing task you have really enjoyed and why:
I have enjoyed Debates because I like talking out to the class trying to convince them.
Two things from numeracy.one that is something new for you and one thing that is a success for you:
The thing that is new for me is measurement, which I learnt a lot from. The thing that is a success is Math Olympiad, which taught me a lot and was fun.
Reflect on the home work projects you have completed this term:
This term, we did two homework projects. The first one was – Inventions. I chose Microphones. I learnt a lot about them, it was like writing an information report from the internet but with your own words. We needed to do the good copy on posters. Mine had so much information I had to stick two subheadings in the back. The second project was – Inventors. We could choose any. I chose Nicephore Niephce. He is the inventor of photography. I did the good copy in a booklet.

What I did well on my toy project is teamwork because Emily and I listened to each other’s ideas and agreeing. I also worked well on making the body parts for Dolly (name of toy invention) because they were all the correct sizes.

One reading skill I learnt this term is summarising, comprehension, visualisation in summarising the teacher read a part of the book to use and then we had to draw a graph into our book and we had to fill it out. In visualisation the teacher read a book to use then we had to visualise in our head.
One writing task that we did this term is our writers note book we had to write a lot of different story’s in our writers note book. One other thing is debating I felt more confident in speaking and how to set out cue cards and into dot points.
Two thing form numeracy are perimeter L+L+W+W and area L X W) perimeter is you have to add up all the sides of the shape and the gives you your answer area you have to times length and the with and that will give you the answer.
My homework project was on the inventor of the basketball James Naismith it was fun researching who invented the basketball and how he invented the basketball.
I did the toy project with Kayla we made a boat it was called the boat mobile 2000 we worked well together we made the boat really good I liked how it turned out the thing we could of do better is to make the boat float and make it better.
One reading task
I have learnt to use expression and fluency. For example if somebody is angry or something I will get angry in my head so the story doesn’t get all boring in my head and make it more interesting

I have really enjoyed doing the information reports because I didn’t really know the structure of it but now I can write one really easily without any support.
Two math task
New: this term I have learnt how to find the area of a triangle (extension) the way to find it is base x height then divided by 2
Success: something that was a success is doing area and perimeter because I can find the area and perimeter of a compound shape in about 1 minute
Homework:
I liked doing the inventor project because I got to learn a lot about my inventor that I did not know about. And it was really fun. Another thing is I got to go on the computer and I really enjoy doing that.
Write your own critique on your toy project:
I think my toy turned out pretty well considering we had to change our idea a couple of times. Our toy didn’t work at the start but then we worked hard to finish and after all our toy didn’t break
I have completed all my homework this year like my inventions and my inventors project I really enjoy doing different projects because I get to learn new things and create all different designs.
Term 3 reflection
One reading skill that you have learnt that has changed the way you read?
The one reading skill that I have learnt and that has made my reading easier is that doing a lot of clarifying with the teacher has really helped me by learning new words to put in my writing. We have also worked on doing some visualizing and that has helped me by understanding my book more because I am able to get a little movie in my head with the book I am reading currently, the book I am reading right now is Now and every time I read that book I get a really good picture or movie in my head, and it makes me want to read till the end of the book.
One writing task that you have really enjoyed and why?
One writing task the I have really enjoyed this term is doing debating and presenting it to the whole double grades. I have enjoyed because I like to argue and debating can let me argue for 2-3 minutes so I like doing it. I also liked doing debating because when I did it I was with my friends for all of them. My favorite part of debating is thinking about the arguments and writing paragraphs for each of the arguments.
Two things from numeracy. One that is something new for you and one thing that is a success for you this term?
One thing that is new for me is how to convert measurement as in mm to cm and cm to m and m to km because I did not know you could convert measurement into different things. One thing that has become a success for me is doing informal measurement because I had no idea what it was but now informal measurement is really easy and I understand it perfectly. Since that I have learnt how do informal measurement I do it a lot of the time when we get asked to measure things with whatever we want well I do informal and not formal.
Reflect on the homework projects that you have completed this term also?
I thought that the invention project was a little bit harder than the inventor project because I did not know what day the invention project was due and I sort of was going to slow on the questions and I did not finish all the questions I only did 5 instead of 8 questions. I thought that the inventor project was much easier because I did all the questions in 1 week and instead of spreading the questions out to different days because that meant that I had a whole week to do my good copy and the good copy turned out exactly how I wanted it to turn out.
Write your own critique on your toy project. What did you do well and why? What do you need to do better next time and why?
The only thing I did well was probably the painting because the paint was all different colors and my favorite part was painting everything like the walls the roof and the floor. The thing that I could of done better is the whole construction work like everything that I had to put in the house did not work at all. I think it was not my best work at all. The construction was not good at all like all the walls kept on falling the inside kept on falling the glue took about 2 hours to dry so I could not do anything else till it was dry. So it did not turn out at all.
End of term 3 reflection

One reading skill I have learnt this term is how to summarise the text that I have read. I now know how to do a proper summary in the form of a paragraph, a sentence and in a table. The definition of a summary is this: ‘a summary retells us the main events in a story.’ Some things that you need to include in a summary are the characters, the setting, the plot, the problem and the solution.
One writing task that I have done in class is working on doing a full information report. Although the one we started in class has not been finished yet, I have learnt how to collect information and to use a variety of websites and not just to trust the first website I see. Information reports are fun because you learn new things on that topic.
One thing in numeracy that was new for me was converting measurements to a different form. For example mm to cm, cm to m and m to km. something that I have had success in is turning decimals into fractions. Using the division algorithm, I can work them out easily.
This term homework projects I have worked on were the famous Australian inventions and the inventor project. For the Australian invention project I did a poster on the hang gliders and the other project on John Logie Baird. (The inventor of colour television.)
I did the toy project with Liam. The game we made was called hoop shot which is a basketball game. overall I think we did a pretty good job. We probably could have added more detail, but when we did our presentation everyone thought we did a great job.
One reading task!
I have learnt to us my expression in all my reading for EG: if someone in the story in angry I’ll make the impression that I am angry just to make the story not boring and fun to read.

I have learnt how to structure an information report. Now I can structure an information report really easily and it makes sense which makes it a great information report.

End of term 3 reflections
– One reading skill that I have learnt that has changed the way I read is clarifying. I have been told that I need to work on my understanding of interesting words in my book that I don’t know. I am also reading books that challenge me. For example, right now I am reading the Percy Jackson series and it is amazing. Before I used to read the Goosebumps series but I now find that I like thick books.
– One writing task that I really enjoyed and why is debating. I enjoy debating because I like to argue and I’m really good at it. My mother says I should be a politician one day but I don’t want to be one. I like it because I made it into the next round with my friend. I like presenting speeches because it improves my confidence as well as the way I speak.
– Two things from numeracy. One that is something new for me and one thing that is a success for me this term. One thing that is new for me this term is volume and capacity. I learnt what they are. Volume is the amount that is inside a container. Capacity is the amount of liquid in a container.
– Reflect on the homework projects you have completed this term also. I think that the first homework project completed by me this term was a success. It was on Australian inventions and we had to write about how it was made and the inventor him or herself. My project was on the very first cell phone and the inventor is called Martin Cooper. I got a score of 17/21 which was better than I expected.
My other project on Thomas Edison didn’t turn out so good because I left my homework book at school which contained all of my information and I couldn’t complete my poster. So on my poster, there is only pictures, a heading and blank spaces where the information was supposed to be.
– write a self-critique on my toy project. What did I do well and why? What do I need to do better next time and why? I am extremely proud of my toy project because I did it all by myself without me partner. My partner wasn’t here so I did it myself. It was a puppet theater on Little Red Riding hood. I enjoyed that a lot and if I were to give myself a score out of 10, I would give myself an 8 and a half or 9 because it was collapsing a bit and I think I would have needed more time to make it prettier. To improve it, I am going to work on it on the holidays so it can look really good.
